I just saw you guys last night at the Bottom of the Hill in SF. I wanted to thank you guys again so much for your music and everything you stand for.

Working in international development and with poverty here in the US, sometimes everything becomes overwhelming and work becomes very discouraging because it all seems so hopeless and fruitless at times. But when I listen to your albums again, I remember that there are others out that still care and are working towards a better, more fair world. The music and your words reignite that fire and give me the energy to move forward again.

Thank you guys for being amazing, for humoring me by signing my handkerchief, and THANK YOU KENNY FOR YOUR DRUMSTICK.

Please come back to the Bay Area more often. :)

just throwin this out there, the last line on the story so far page, “the more things change, the more they stay the same” also happens to be the first line from COD MW2, which as you know is a video game about war. idk if that’s sending any kind of mixed messages, i just thought you might like to be aware of it.

on a separate note, your music is fantastic.

There’s one line from the song “Whip$ and Chain$” that’s driving me crazy. I can’t figure out the lyrics for the life of me.

On the site it says “Who killed o/ Why and what’s the reason for?” But “o” is obviously not what they’re saying on the track. It sounds like “Who killed jimee-tide-a-more.”

Is that what they’re saying? And if so, who is (or was) this “Jimmy” person?

“Survival Story” is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time and I love finding all the deep thoughts embedded in the lyrics. But this is driving me nuts. Who are they talking about!

  18. christian 30 June 2010 at 10:45 am #

    hey guys.
i was poisoned with your influential beats and infinite wisdom when i swallowed the red pill on my friends ipod, and I couldn’t be more thankful for doing it. Thank you for rejuvenating my hope in hip-hop.

lemme paint a picture for you not with reds or with blues just close your eyes gonna take you on a ride to a day in the life when no one heard of strife when no one heard of pain just danced in the rain in a land far away where the sun would lay and the kids would play there was a boy on the side who would sit in the shade scribbling down rhymes to the beat of somber bell chimes sometimes he would cry a silent tear would slip by but no ever saw that they just thought he was quiet didn’t know that he was making a literary riot time passed by the town fell to pieces the kids that would play dressed in military gray the sun got choked in corporate smoke no one listened what did they care that a boy without a name was tryna make them aware now it’s all left in pieces whill momma still praying to lord jesus [chorus]

    CHORUS
what did i tell ya what did i tell ya what did i tell ya what did i tell ya what did i tell yawhat did i tell ya what did i tell ya what did i tell ya what did i tell ya what did i tell ya why won’t you listen to the prophest who’ve risen all is not well our souls we’ll not sell

at the same time in another place a girl was holding her face she was crying to herself “it’s coming near it’s coming near” they locked her in a room made of white walls and fear hoping that they wouldn’t hear her prophecy in their ear what wasn’t there yet couldn’t hurt them right no need to worry bout something not in plain sight but they all heard the sound of the trumpet the steps to a drum that would tear down the pulpit two weeks later a giant eagle soared in mowed em all down into recycling bins it’s all left in pieces whill momma still praying to lord jesus [chorus]

i don’t know exactly what possessed me to write that, but it goes somewhat to the flow of “rise”.
yeah. Sad that me and my friend are the only ones that can appreciate the music you’re making in a sea of high schoolers drunk off of “Tik Tok” and sh*t like that. i’m rambling now. thanks for the quality music you guys. My ears can finally stop bleeding.

I love what you guys are doing! We need more bands out there with something to say. With a lack of ‘moral leaders’ standing up to defend what it right over what builds profit for the elite few it’s important that we have people standing up and opening our minds to concepts other then what we get from the corporate media machine. While searching for more bands out doing the same I noticed that there does not appear to be an agreed upon genre or label for such bands. I generally do not like to categorize music like that because most bands I listen to do not fit in one box. In this case I think it would make it easier to bring more people into a movement if there was a label to rally around. For example if I looked up your band on Wikipedia because I was interested in finding more bands bringing a message of supporting peace, hope, and change to the microphone and found that not only did your page not even mention that aspect of your music, but there was no hyperlink to others doing the same. We need to build connections with others to start a movement, and perhaps something as simple as a genre label could start that process.

Thank you for making my life more fun ^_^

Hey,i was just wondering when you’d be on tour in the US, and if you do go on tour soon, could you please come to Blossom Music Center in Ohio, or atleast somewhere around Cleveland?(You could also visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame if you came!) I would love to see all of you in person, and maybe get an album signed, or have Mackenzie sign my violin, haha. but seriously, seeing all of you in person would be awesome. I love all of your songs, my favorite being combat. You actually “rap” about relevant and important things, its very inspiring. I use the term rap very loosely because what you do isnt rap, its so much MUCH better. It actually educates you, it MATTERS. I wish that everyone could appreciate your music. Again, please PLEASE come to Blossom! it would mean the world to me!

I am doing a citizenship campaign for my GCSE, to spread the awareness of Street Children.
Currently backing up the charity Casa Alianza.
I heard your song ‘Stand Up’ and I was wondering where you got your inspiration to write such powerful lyrics? Thank you for your words of inspiration,
    Emily.

I wanted to say thank you for playing in Manchester last night. I can honestly say it was the best gig I’ve ever been to, such a great vibe.

This quote has really had a huge impact on my life, changed my whole way of thinking:

“Resistance is victory. Defeat is impossible.”
