Flobots Celebrate 15 Year Anniversary of Handlebars & Welcome Andy Rok Back
The Flobots are releasing their debut album from 2005 Flobots Present: Platypus on Spotify for the first time on October 23
October 14, 2020 - The Flobots are celebrating the 15 year anniversary of Handlebars in two big ways: re-releasing a remixed and remastered version of their 2005 debut self-released album Flobots Present: Platypus on all major streaming platforms on Friday, 10/23, and welcoming Andy Rok back to the Flobots Family.
In 2005, Flobots had only been playing shows around Colorado for only a year. They booked 2 days at Coupe Studios in Boulder to record their first EP which included the first iteration of Handlebars. Handlebars would later become a platinum-selling single, garnering the band a record deal with Republic Records and becoming a worldwide phenomenon.
“I could not be happier to celebrate 15 years of Handlebars, the song that changed our lives. We knew the song was special when we first recorded it in 2005 and we released Platypus, and people at our shows started singing every word back at us. After parting ways almost 9 years ago, it feels so good to be back, making music with the band that meant so much to me and gave me so many opportunities. The Rok is officially back with the Flobots Family. We have some exciting plans for you in 2020-2021 including a special show on Election Night and some new music on the horizon.” - Andy Rok.
The Flobots will be playing the Oriental Theater on Election Night, Tuesday, 11/3 at 7 pm. The night will include a special performance by Flobots with special guests, as well as election coverage and group discussion with the band, community leaders, and members. Tickets are limited to maintain proper social distancing.
Jonny 5 continues to facilitate conversations on Instagram Live as we get closer to the election. Turn on reminders at instagram.com/flobotsmusic and find Flobots approved voting resources at flobots.com/vote
